Celtic Tunes for the Ukulele
Celtic tunes are played worldwide and are as much fun to play as they are to listen to. I grew up listening to Celtic and old-time tunes at my grandparent’s house when they had their music parties, and my love of this style of music has only grown stronger as the years have passed.
This workshop will discuss 2 different areas of Celtic music:
Celtic strum patterns for ukulele:
Using different strum patterns and techniques to provide a rhythmic accompaniment that echoes the feel of the bodhran.
Celtic tunes for ukulele: We’ll work on a jig entitled The Moon and Seven Stars, which is in 2 different “settings” to allow for variations in playing. I have chosen this tune as it is light-hearted and lovely to play, and it has been arranged in a key that is comfortable for ukulele. I have additional tunes if we have time, or for you to have for further individual study.
